Please err on the side of booking more time (for example, book moderate versus minimal matting if you are unsure of the severeity). If your cat requires less work on the day, we will adjust the appointment type and final cost.
-
We’re often booked 1-2 months in advance. Seasonal periods (summer shedding, winter coats, holidays) fill up fast, so we recommend pre-planning through the year.
-
Yes, but on the online booking system if you are booking in more than one of the same type of service (for example, two Full Long/Medium Grooms WITH BATH) you will need to complete bookings and deposits for these independently, and ensure they are booked in back-to-back slots. If you run into any issues with these, we can sort this manually for you so please email hello@purrglasgow.com

A dry groom includes deshedding, brushing, nail trim, trimming of belly/toes/legs if requested, and hygiene trim.
A wet groom includes everything in a dry groom plus a bath and blow dry. -
Yes! We offer wet and dry kitten grooms for cats under 8 months, which include nails, hygiene trim, eye/ear/teeth clean, and gentle deshedding.
-
Yes. We offer a Meet & Greet Assessment appointment to assess handling tolerance, sounds, and grooming needs before recommending a service.
-
If the matting is minimal or moderate, this can be selected at the time of booking under either a short or long-haired groom, with or without a bath.
If the matting is severe, such as in 3-or-more locations on the body, it will require a coat re-set shave in the form of either a lion cut (full body) or bolero (partial-body). -
No. We cannot carry out flea medication application or flea baths.
Your cat must first be treated with a veterinary-prescribed flea medication before grooming can proceed. We can continue once the active infestation is cleared. -
In most cases, yes — but please let us know ahead of time. Cats with significant health concerns may require shorter sessions, adjustments, or a vet-managed plan.
-
Please arrive at your booked appointment time. Early arrival can disrupt ongoing grooms. If you arrive before your groom start time, you will be asked to wait in the hallway or your car so as to avoid overlap of households.
-
Please phone 0141 611 6369 as soon as you know of any delay to arrival/collection and leave a voicemail as we may be with another client and unable to answer.
Late drop-off may reduce what we can safely complete. All grooms are scheduled for the allocated services booked, so late arrival may impact the ability to complete all requested services, but as the time has still been allocated for the full appointment, full appointment cost will apply.
Late collection may incur an additional charge as we do not have the capacity to board cats for collection in the salon. A 10 minutes grace period will apply, but a charge of £5 per additional 10 minute collection delay will be added to your appointment total. -
Every cat is different, but typically 60–90 minutes. Nervous or matted cats may require additional time. At the time of booking, you will receive an estimated ending time of service, and this will be confirmed with you at check-in.
-
We do not sedate cats in-house. If your vet prescribes a calming agent like Gabapentin or Pregabalin, please contact us first so we can determine whether grooming is safe and appropriate.
-
Welfare comes first. If your cat shows signs of extreme stress or risk, we may stop the groom entirely and discuss next steps. You will only be charged for grooming completed, or a meet-and-greet fee if any grooming is determined too stressful for your cat.
-
Owners are allowed to sit in the salon if necessary, but are not allowed at the grooming table without express permission by the groomer. We find that the vast majority of cats typically settle better without their humans present. We may request you to sit outside if we notice your cat
-

Yes. We use high-quality, feline-safe formulations only. The products used on cats in the salon are often imported from around the world to source the very best, including: Chubbs Bars, The Blissful Cat, Chris Christensen Top Cat, Farber Products, Pure and Natural Pet, Hydra, and Eye Envy.
-
No. PURR is now a salon-only service.

All cats are assessed at the start of their appointment. If evidence of fleas, flea dirt, ticks, lice, or other parasites is found at any stage of the groom, we will stop immediately for the safety and wellbeing of the cat.
Because fleas spread rapidly and require full disinfecting of equipment, tools, and surfaces, a £20–£35 parasite clean-down fee will be added to your booking. (Actual cost depends on severity and time required.)
PURR Cat Grooming Ltd does not administer flea treatments or veterinary medicines. We will advise you to speak with your vet for an appropriate treatment plan.
If fleas are detected, your cat must complete and maintain an effective veterinary-recommended flea treatment cycle before rebooking. This is for the safety of all cats in our care—especially those who are elderly, immunocompromised, or anxious.
If one cat is found to have fleas, we strongly recommend treating all cats in the household, as flea infestations spread easily between animals.
Fleas, ticks, lice, and other parasites pose a significant health and hygiene risk to both cats and the salon environment. -
If an ingrown nail is found during your cat’s appointment, it will be treated immediately for their comfort and safety. A £5 fee per nail applies, as this requires additional time and specialised handling, as well as medical treatment of the wound.
-
If your cat arrives soiled or has faeces/urine within their coat matting, we will carry out the necessary clean-up to ensure their comfort and hygiene. Additional charges may apply at our discretion, depending on the time and level of sanitation required.
-
Based on our experience, we would usually suggest at minimum a seasonal full groom for most cats.
Older, disabled, or shedding-heavy cats may need more frequent maintenance, with recommended grooming schedules such as:
Short-haired cats: every 5–14 weeks.
Long/medium-haired cats: every 4–8 weeks. -
Absolutely — regular deshedding significantly reduces hair ingestion.
-
No — we never trim or cut whiskers. A cat’s whiskers are essential sensory organs that help them navigate, balance, judge space, and feel safe. Trimming them can cause disorientation, stress, and behavioural changes, so it’s against welfare best practice.
If whiskers appear long, curly, or uneven, that’s completely normal and shouldn’t be altered. -
Unfortunately, no. Teddy cuts can only be done on a fully brushed-out, mat-free coat. The clipper guards used for teddy cuts cannot pass through mats or tangles, and trying to force them through would be unsafe and uncomfortable for your cat.
If your cat has mats, we’ll need to remove those first — this may involve spot de-matting, a hygiene trim with de-matting add-on, or in more severe cases, a clip-down for welfare.
Once the coat is healthy and mat-free again, a teddy cut can be safely done at your next grooming appointment.
